Alcatel and ZTE manufactured the first mobile OS with Firefox

Alcatel and ZTE manufactured the first mobile OS with Firefox

The OS, has added international support: Alcatel and ZTE are the first manufacturers to make this proposal based terminals, and operators such as Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, Smart, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telenor, have announced that Mozilla supports the initiative.

TCL Communication Technology (under the brand Alcatel One Touch) and ZTE have announced they are preparing the first governed by Firefox OS devices, and will incorporate Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which we will be matching in Brazil in early 2013, we have here before.

Firefox OS for mobile devices is based in the “Boot to Gecko” of Mozilla, a sort of “mobile ecosystem” that will run natively on phones, and will have applications built on HTML5 by the developer community, which will make them fast and very light, even on computers cheap and very basic features.

And is that as pointed out in his Mozilla blog one of the goals of “Boot to Gecko” is precisely to eliminate many of the limitations of Web development for mobile devices because it allows applications developed in HTML5 access to basic phone capabilities previously only were available to native applications.

Gary Kovacs, CEO of Mozilla, stressed the importance of this project for the “democratization” of technology Web:

“Mozilla’s operating system for mobile devices will help us fulfill our mission to provide advanced web technologies that eliminate barriers for both users and developers. When it is expected that billions of users accessing the web for the first time in the coming years, it is important that we can offer a personal experience of a smartpnhone everyone can use. The many operators and manufacturers who support this initiative will provide additional resources and receive with satisfaction the diversity of our global offering. “

As you recall, at the Mobile World Congress 2012 saw a prototype handset with this OS presented by Telefónica and Mozilla , which stands out because being open source HTML5 know any programmer can create a mobile application. Anyway, once we know the support that has Firefox OS, requires less to see it come true. Amen.
