Elikia, the African Android

Elikia, the African Android

$ 170 is the price of a terminal with Android 2.3.6, two cameras, 2G and 3G connectivity animated by a 650 MHz processor … That is, the African mobile reflect many blogs as the “Apple” of the region.

Furthermore, Elikia connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and has an older sister: Way-C tablet, whose name means “starlight” and cost about $ 300, with services ranging from 7 inches, 1.2 GHz processor and expandable memory up to 32 GB.

The manifesto of the African company responsible for these releases leaves no doubt: “Apple is big in the U.S., Samsung is big in Asia and we want grow up in Africa,” said Verone Mankou, entrepreneur creator of these devices also announced the future creation of a tablet for students, lower cost and similar benefits.

Elikia has been announced as an African development. However, the devices are made in China, except that its design and internal structure are entirely African. This reflects the company philosophy: “Only Africans can know what needs”, as stated at the annual conference Mankou Tech4Africa in Johannesburg.

What do you think that Africa design your own equipment? Would it be better that they had mobile “global” as the iPhone or the Galaxy?
