According to researchers at the University of Erlangen in Germany, the random combination of numbers and letters that is generated in the password is easy to predict. So much so that they were able to get in under a minute.

The researchers shared ten-page document in which details the process of obtaining the password.

IOS are of 4-6 characters followed by a four-digit number, which allows a limited number of combinations. Another drawback is that include words easy to remember, in fact part of the research was to restart several times the access point for different passwords.

The list consists of about 52,500 entries, originated from an open source Scrabble after use in an offline attack to guess passwords. With the help of a GPU AMD Radeon HD 6990 were able to crack the access point in 49 minutes.

After further testing, the researchers found that only 1842 entries in this list are used by Apple. Using an array of four AMD Radeon 7970 GPUs were able to get the password in a record time of 50 seconds.

The document states that the question of access points is no need to create passwords that can be easily remembered. They should be composed of a combination that includes letters, numbers and special characters.

We know that some of you are careful when generating passwords, however it is worth recommending to those who are not automatically generated by the operating system.
