Guide to Jailbreak iOS 6 devices only A4 processors
While it is appreciated that Apple will inspire in Cydia tweaks to make improvements in its operating system for mobile devices , there are still people who still need to use programs as simple as Activator and SBSettings and have nothing similar in iOS 6 so the team of Redsn0w released the Redsn0w Jailbreak 0.9.13dev4 for an update on the latest Apple operating system.
That itself is a tethered jailbreak (ie you need to repeat certain procedure if the phone is restarted because it shows you an error) and only works on devices with Apple’s A4 processor or above, so it can only be done Jailbreak on iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch … And, of course, the only iOS 6 that falls behind the iPhone 4, the 3GS.
It should also be noted that this method will not work in the new iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad 3 and the fifth-generation iPod touch.
Like everything related to the jailbreak, all this is at your own risk, therefore we recommend to completely support your phone before you start this procedure (especially in this case because the iOS 6 was just released yesterday).
Runs redsn0w.exe. If you’re on Windows tries to be with the administrator account, and if you’re in OS X Lion Mountain, have pressed ‘Ctrl’ and select the icon, then give Open from the menu.
In redsn0w select ‘Extras’. In the new menu press the ‘Select IPSW’ and then select the file with the iOS 6 for your device (In the case of the iPhone 3GS is the file iPhone2, 1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw). The application should then display a message like the following:
This means that identified redsn0w iOS 6 and install it in your phone when you realize the Jailbreak. Now press ‘back’ to return to the main menu and start the procedure.
In the main menu, press the button ‘Jailbreak’. In the new menu options as above left, because although not yet officially approved Cydia, you can still install after jailbreak.
As always, to install it you have to have the iPhone in DFU mode, so it is necessary to have the phone connected by USB to the computer and turned off (for a few seconds press that button ‘sleep’ until the option).
When giving the button ‘Next’ Guide appears to enter DFU mode, which is to press the button of ‘sleep’ for three seconds, then without releasing it, press ‘home’ and keep both buttons pressed about ten seconds. Finally, release the button to ‘sleep’ but hold the button for ‘home’ for about 15 seconds. Wait for a few
long and tense minutes and the phone is Jailbroken.
Since the method is not yet fully refined, redsn0w can not leave the phone ‘untethered’ (which after every reboot to re-boot the jailbreak), so despite the operation performed, however we reopen redsn0w and go to ‘Extras’ and select ‘Just Boot’, which then have to re-do the process of leaving the phone in DFU mode.
Remember that you have to do this every time you turn off or reboot the phone, or not run the Jailbreak.
Now comes the complex, install Cydia via SSH on the phone. SSH is a protocol to connect to iPhone remotely, from your computer, and so exchange files or write commands to manage the device.
Start by writing down the phone’s IP address (for that must go to the iPhone Settings and then Wi-Fi. Press the blue button on the network you are connected and show you that information).
If you have a computer with Windows is recommended to download a program like WinSCP , which under ‘Host name’ must enter the IP number of the iPhone, and then write root in ‘User name’ and alpine on ‘Password’. Then press ‘Login’
Opens a new window when you should choose ‘Yes’ and you will enter your iPhone remotely. Finally, in the main WinSCP window press Ctrl + T to open a terminal window.
If you’re on a Mac computer just go to Terminal and type “ssh firstname.lastname@example.org” (without quotes, the x’s are the IP number). The default password to login as ‘root’ is alpine.
Finally, whether under Windows in the window of WinSCP command line, or in the Mac Terminal, you must run the following command on your iPhone:
wget-q-O / tmp / cyinstall.sh http://downloads.kr1sis.net/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 / tmp / cyinstall.sh && / tmp / cyinstall.sh
Once completed, and some
long and tense minutes, the phone will Jailbreak, Cydia and the new iOS 6. It is clear that most Cydia tweaks are not developed for use on the new operating system, so you’ll have enough headaches checking that everything works as you want. Well, considering that iOS 6 just launched yesterday , you can not ask for much more.
