Our protagonist has a pretty good design. Chrome color mixed with black color of the screen, causes the computer to look elegant. I liked that the stereo speakers are at the helm because it hands you a more direct sound and can appreciate the 3D effects that will deliver the equipment.
Unfortunately, your screen is a fingerprint magnet, something that bothers many of us and not get tired of criticizing every time you notice it on computers I try. The material quality is apparently good, and that the team is plastic.
I’m impressed enough light that is the team, unlike other tablets, and is very thin, which makes the tablet is very convenient to have on hand and to write.
Now let’s examine its design, part by part:
Forwards (and seeing it horizontally) we find its 10.1-inch screen, then on top we see the VGA front camera, accompanied by an ambient light sensor on the bottom we see the Samsung logo and sides we find the stereo speakers.
On the back, only we find some logos, including Samsung and finally we see the 3.15 megapixel main camera.
The sides (and seeing again horizontally), specifically the left side, we find nothing, as in the right side.
However, at the top we see the key on/off, which also serves to lock or unlock the screen, we also see the volume keys, 3.5mm jack plug for audio output, and finally see the slots SIM card and MicroSD cards.
And finally in the bottom, see the special data port and the main microphone.
The main chamber of our protagonist is 3.15 megapixels, which also includes functions to improve the final image quality. You also have the possibility to record video in 720p HD with varied effects.
The camera captures pictures of our hero with a maximum resolution of 2048 X 1536 pixels and has various effects and enhancements that help you get a better result when taking a picture.
- 3.2 M 2048 X 1536 (4:3)
- 2.4 M 2048 X 1152 (16:9)
- 2 M 1600 X 1200 (4:3)
- 1.3M 1536 X 864 (16:9)
- 1.3M 1280 X 960 (4:3)
- 0.9M 1280 x 720 (16:9)
The settings you have available picture mode are quite complete, although they look a bit like we’ve seen in other Samsung devices with Android. I’ll detail some:
Shooting mode> Single shot – Disp. smile – Overview
Scene Mode> None – Landscape – Night – Sports – Party / Indoor – Beach / Snow
Effects> None – Negative – black and white – Sepia
White balance> Auto – Daylight – Light – Incandescent – Fluorescent
Measurement> Focus – Item – Matrix
Among other options, you can adjust the exposure value, activate a timer, set measurement, adjust image quality, turn on GPS tag, and more.
Our protagonist has the ability to record videos in high definition, with a maximum resolution of 1280 X 720 at a speed of 30 frames per second. The video is made with the MP4 format AVC codec and audio codec 12Mbps AAC at 128Kbps, 48.0kHz, Stereo.
The recording profiles incorporating video mode are:
- HD 1280 X 720 – 16:9 – 30 fps – Audio AAC Stereo
- SD 720 x 480 – 4:3 – 30 fps – Audio AAC Stereo
- VGA 640 x 480 – 4:3 – 30 fps – Audio AAC Stereo
As in photo mode, here you have the ability to adjust some settings to get a better result in the final video. I will detail some below:
Effects> None – Negative – black and white – Sepia
White balance> Auto – Daylight – Light – Incandescent – Fluorescent
You can also adjust the exposure value, activate a timer, set the outdoor visibility, and more.
Then we leave you with a video recorded with the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 in the highest quality possible:
Our protagonist is a tablet which is certainly suitable for the multimedia world. It has a dual core processor and a display of excellent quality, ideal to be able to play movies with the best quality possible. Also included is a new music player, supported by sound effects SoundAlive, being able to emulate 7.1 channel audio.
As our hero has the new interface TouchWiz UX, the music player obviously had to be renewed. Now includes a new graphical interface that includes new features for even better sound quality.
You can play music files in MP3, WAV, AAC, AAC + Plus, AC3 and FLAC, as well as to view the cover of the album of the artist you’re listening to the lyrics of the song. Also you have the typical options for shuffle and repeat that most media players have.
But now comes what stands out the player, which is the equalizer and sound effects. The equalizer is composed of 7 bands reaching a maximum of 10db, you can also set the following effects:
- Reverb level
- Room size
And last but not least, you have up to 14 pre-defined equalizer. These are:
- Increases in serious
- Sharp increases
- Virtual 7.1 CH
All these sound effects are powered by SoundAlive.
And finally we see other news of bringing this new version, because now you can play songs directly into folders, which undoubtedly will accommodate many in his music playback.
Our protagonist is able to play videos in AVI, DivX, XviD, MP4 and 3GP with a maximum resolution of 1920 X 1080 at a rate of 30 frames per second and up to 60 pictures at a resolution of 1280 X 720.
The player lets you choose repeat options, besides being able to control the brightness of the screen and allow you to order a video by chapter and also allow you to edit them.
The Web browser is very similar to that already integrate teams like the Galaxy SII, Galaxy Note (both updated to Ice Cream Sandwich) or Galaxy SIII himself.
Browser performance is slightly better than in other terminals and is probably due to the hardware that comes with this phone, because pages with lots of information take less time to be deployed, of course, leaving aside the aspects of speed data transfer (wireless or data plan).
Moreover, this browser allows us to have a lot of windows open without the tablet gets slow. You also have the option to browse in stealth mode, without the browser records the sites visited or information you enter in the sites you visit.
The GPS features our protagonist works great, does not take almost anything connected with the satellites. This team also supports GLONASS, a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) developed by the Soviet Union is today administered by the Russian Federation, which represents the counterpart to the American GPS we all know. GLONASS is a constellation of 24 satellites (21 active and 3 spare satellites) located in three orbital planes with 8 satellites each, following an orbit inclined 64.8° with a radius of 25,510 kilometers.
The GLONASS constellation orbits the earth at an altitude of 19 100 km (slightly lower than traditional GPS) and takes approximately 11 hours and 15 minutes to complete an orbit. In this way, it takes much less to connect and provides better accuracy.
For more information on GLONASS, check out the full post he wrote Hugo Morales.
Our protagonist takes hardly anything to connect to the satellites and show your current location, as it only took 3 seconds to establish a connection, provided you are connected to the internet, because it takes a little over 30 seconds when you are no data.
Like all Android incorporates Google Maps and Google Navigator to use the GPS, applications that work very well without any problem. From Play Store you can download Google Earth and other apps like Waze to make use of GPS equipment.
The main character screen is TFT PLS, with a size of 10.1 inches and 1280 X 800 pixels, allowing us to watch HD content at full size. The 16 million color display of this notice, as it achieves vivid colors and real black, giving a correct contrast and brightness to the images or videos that look at the tablet.
We highlight the glass Gorilla Glass II that protects the screen , which is thinner than the Gorilla Glass which equips the first version of Galaxy Tab 10.1. The sensitivity of the multi touch screen is very good and feels faster response action. Now, the reality is that the improved feeling of use in this regard.
The Galaxy Tab 2 1.10 has two sources of sound: left and right speaker. The front speakers that this tablet has really impressed me the sound quality they deliver. Because they are two speakers, the audio is perceived in stereo. As I said before, the sound they give is great, powerful bass have really very well perceived and treble it offers are good too. When selecting the equipment to the maximum volume, the audio is not saturated at all.
But the sound changes for the better when the audio player or video effect is activated 7.1 Channels, and you get surround sound surround.
The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 operates with the operating system Android OS 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, in the version for tablets. The tablet works very well with this version of Android, Honeycomb unlike that ran like a really expecting it, or at least the feeling I had with that version. But my opinion changed completely with Ice Cream Sandwich for tablets because the change in performance is noticeable and quite.
The new home screen that shows our hero is completely different – graphically speaking – which incorporated the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in its first version, incorporating new transition effects and animations, adding also some sounds that complement the visual effects .
It consists of 5 desks, which can remove or add more desktops. In them you can add widgets, create folders and shortcuts.
We also have 6 wallpapers 4 fixed and animated backgrounds to completely customize your desktop.
The Contacts menu interface is very similar to what we see in the Galaxy Ice Cream Sandwich IBS to give you an example. You add all that contact information such as name, phone, assign to a group, email, chat name, address, notes, pen name, website and the number of Internet call, adding also the contact picture.
Multimedia Gallery is almost equal to that which brings Ice Cream Sandwich originally only change some colors and icons.
And other applications menu
On this side we can see the main menu that offers our hero, which integrates a renewed interface:
For here we see the setup menu:
And here we see the notifications area
Our protagonist has the ability to connect to GSM GPRS EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS HSDPA and HSPA+ 850/900/1900/2100. In this way, insert a SIM with data plan and you have mobile internet on the tablet, you can even receive and make calls.
The team also has Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, Wi-Fi and DLNA Direct.
We tested the Wi-Fi and works quite well, similar to how it works in the Galaxy Note, to give you an example. It has a very good transfer speed and a very good reception. Like the Wi-Fi Hotspot, being able to have up to 8 devices connected to the Wi-Fi network created by the tablet, provided you have a mobile internet connection obviously.
Finally we prove that this was behaving the tablet’s Bluetooth transferring an MP3 of 5.1 MB and the transfer was delayed 42 seconds. With DLNA no problem breeding, everything went smoothly and seamlessly, especially the videos with full HD resolution.
The internal battery of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is the Li-Po 7000 mAh of operating at 3.7 volts. According to the manufacturer, the battery offers a battery life of 2000 hours in standby mode. Whereas calls to get 10 hours.
I always test, but this time I tested its length a weekend when not working, because obviously not the tablet will walk in the streets and subways. So, Friday night carrying the tablet left overnight to test the battery power on Saturday.
[10:00 - 100% battery] turn on the tablet and I connect to my Wi-Fi I have at home and start to check Twitter, Facebook, emails and review Wayerless from the browser as standard equipment, always accompanied by the player original music. Remain so for about an hour and stopped using the tablet [11:00 - 88% Battery], lock the screen and put it on standby, always connected to the Internet. During the course of time and until 13:00 hours, I was receiving push notifications from Twitter and emails. [13:00 - 82% Battery] take the tablet again and leave it playing music for an hour to prove that such speakers sounded. [14:00 - 72% Battery] leave the tablet again on hold.
[16:00 - 68% Battery] I use again the tablet to surf the Internet, be on Twitter and watch some videos on YouTube until 17:30. Then at [20:00 - 59% Battery] start using the tablet to be full again connected to the internet, Facebook, Twitter and listening to online radio TuneIn. I do all this until [22:30 - 46% battery] when I stop using the tablet and turn it off. After a day Sunday, I switch it on again around noon and again I’m full internet connected but listening to music with the player set up the [14:00 - 34% Battery].
Well, finally began to tell me the tablet that has low battery around 23:00 hours, after having been using the tablet before and several times. In summary, the battery lasts approximately 37 hours with prolonged use and nearly full brightness of the screen.
Final opinion of the Author
Personally I quite liked the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, found it full well in terms of functions and features, I felt as if I had a giant Galaxy SIII as the user interface is virtually the same, even includes the same wallpaper.
Speaking of display, I found it good, although it is the same including the first version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1–I also liked, has a very good brightness, vivid colors and very responsive to touch gestures. In games the screen responded very well when viewing fast movements.
The sound quality of the team I liked, both offered in audio headsets, such as the perceived audio from stereo speakers to integrate the team, who deliver a very good sound, bass and treble are they achieve indistinguishable.
Unfortunately the camera did not like it much, I thought it would be much better but did not. I liked that did not have auto focus, I feel that this is already rather old camera, I also wish I had an LED flash, even to occupy lantern at night. In the videos I noticed that there were a very good definition, though I can not require much if it only records in 720p HD.
But I would buy it? My answer is YES, I would complete it is and especially with the good battery life it offers. During the weekend I held him I did not need to use my laptop because all my technology needs of the tablet could do perfectly.
Mainly available in major retailers nationwide at a price higher than CLP $ 200,000. That if the version that would sell in these parts of the planet would be the 16GB and only Wi-Fi, no 3G as the version we tested us.
