Sony Xperia Z Ultra [at first glance]

Sony Xperia Z Ultra [at first glance]

We have just witnessed the launch of the new Sony Xperia Z Ultra , Sony’s first attempt to enter the market of so-called “phablets” these hybrid between tablets and smartphones that are between six and eight inches. It is really difficult to identify one unless someone says it, because if a Nexus 7 is a tablet, this Xperia Z 6.4 inch Ultra … is not it?

The first thing to do with this device is its huge 6.4-inch screen, but when I say huge, maybe the word falls short. It is monstrous in this screen and widescreen format that we are used in similar devices from other manufacturers. But of course, if has focused on the screen and thinness is for something, because they are the two most striking features.

But if Sony has done a great job as far as the thickness and weight is concerned because in this be stuck to really realize that barely weigh anything, in their specifications tell us they are 212 grams, you just feel when you consider the large (and please note that my hands are bigger than average). Its 8-megapixel camera is decent if you happen to be something unbelievable, capable of recording videos in 1080p but not going to stand for something in particular. What is perhaps more highlight is its enormous 3000mAh battery that is in it, which according to specifications given about 11 hours in use.

It integrates the latest Qualcomm processor, specifically a 800 Snapdragon 2.2 GHz quad-core also supports LTE networks, so there will be no 3G and a 4G version, you can enjoy all these networks directly with the same chipset . It has 16 GB of internal memory, expandable with microSD cards, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and uses Android 4.2 operating system. Being in the Xperia range Z, we can not forget that is waterproof and splashproof.

We can not stop thinking about who is competing here against Sony. You really against Samsung Galaxy Note? Because it looks more like a tablet that tries to compete with seven-inch tablets rather than by these “phablets” Samsung or Huawei are selling. Its screen is very bright and with a good level of colors, are thin, light but is too big to just go with it in hand everywhere, much less try to put it in a pocket of trousers.

Sony defined its price before it goes on sale, more or less for early September.
